Well, I am new to planned writing. For the most part, I have written like you say that you do and have found it quite enjoyable, but also challenging. Now I am trying to plan out as much as I can and see if it makes the writing any easier and any better. I have yet to begin the first draft because I keep thinking of points to add to the story and removing others; it is as if I am in a second or third draft of just planning! I remain optimistic, though. The story is meant to be a simple tale, but I mean to write it as thoroughly as possible (making sure I choose every word carefully). See, I have been inspired by a few short stories where every line is built with meaning and can be analysed much like a poem or song lyric can -- this is how I want to write.

The tale is about a very successful young swordsman and his first true taste of defeat; it is about his humbling. The title that I am working with is simply, The Swordsman, which may change but I do like the simplicity of it. My tip for choosing a title: keep it relevant to something within the story (be it allusion, a direct line, a name, et cetera), keep it simple, but most of all choose what feels right. There is nothing special about "The Swordsman" but it is what feels right to me at the moment, and is certainly relevant.

I would love to read what you have written!

I'm impressed by your planning! I tend to work these things through as I write ("oh! look! my character has a new motivation!" and so on). Any clues on what it's going to be about?

And, any tips on how to get good at titling? I *still* don't have a proper title, and I'm only a few short edits away from being ready to submit (aside from the small lack-of-a-title 'detail')
